Essar Projects wins International Safety Award from British Safety Council

In recognition of its commitment and hard work towards the health and safety of its employees, workers and workplaces at the Al Zour Refinery Project site, Essar Projects has been awarded the International Safety Award, by the British Safety Council.

The British Safety Council International Safety Awards recognize and celebrate organisations from around the world that have demonstrated – to the satisfaction of independent judges – their commitment towards preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health. For 2021, the 63rd year of Awards, 387 winners were drawn from 37 countries worldwide. They span all sectors with significant representation from construction, manufacturing, oil, gas and mining, and power and utility sectors.

The vision of the British Safety Council is that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety but also more and more to workplace wellbeing and impelling others to follow suit. The awards also acknowledge organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.

Sharing his experience on driving the HSE culture in the organisation, Peter Duffield, Head HSE at Essar Projects stated, “Promotion of HSE Vision has always been one of our top priorities. This was amalgamated with the daily execution activities at the KIPIC Al Zour Refinery site. Careful and conscious application of the same has enabled the team to achieve this important recognition. While COVID-19 pandemic certainly had negative impact on the day-to-day activities, the team’s commitment towards prioritizing health & safety along with a vigilant attitude helped us to stay focused on targets.”
